ABOUT US IN OBERLIN, OHIO

The Sperry-Gorske Agency is one of the oldest continuous operating Independent Insurance and Real Estate Agencies in Northern Ohio. The agency was founded in 1898 by Louis E. Burgner and operated at 9 South Main Street in Oberlin. In 1926, Mr. Burgner hired Helen M. Gorske directly out of the Oberlin Business College, before she even had a chance to graduate. Also, in 1926 the agency was moved to its current location at 21 South Main Street.
After serving in WWII, Helen's brother, Paul R. Gorske joined the agency in 1946. The brother & sister team then purchased the agency in 1948. Helen married Charles M. Sperry and the agency changed it's name to Sperry-Gorske Agency, which continues today to serve the insurance and Real estate needs of all Lorain county and Northern Ohio.
In 1979, Paul & Jackie Gorske's son, John Pittman Gorske became active in the independent family owned business. John "Pitt" Gorske received his Bachelor of Science degree in Insurance & Risk Management from the Ohio State University in 1981.

"Pitt" has been a life long resident of Oberlin. He is active in local civic organizations as well as State and National boards for both the Insurance and Real Estate fields.
